One Year in This Space š¤

Last December, we unlocked the doors to this space for the very first time.
At the time, it felt equal parts exciting and terrifying! A big leap forward for Well Rested Massage and a commitment to build something that truly aligned with my values. One year later, Iām standing in the same space with a very different perspective.
This year has held meaningful growth, real challenges, and a lot of learning ā all of which deserve to be acknowledged.
The Professional Highs
From a business standpoint, this year brought a lot to be proud of:
Expanding into a larger, more intentional space
Welcoming new team members and collaborators
Creating a studio that feels warm, inclusive, and supportive ā for clients andĀ practitioners
Becoming fully ADA accessible, something Iām incredibly proud of
Earning my certification in Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD) and expanding the ways we support clients
Being honored with the Best Massage award from Boston Business Women, a recognition that reflected the trust of our community
Watching clients continue to show up, refer friends, and prioritize their care
There were moments mid-day when Iād pause, hearing the quiet hum of the studio ā soft music, treatment rooms in use, familiar conversations ā and think, this is really happening.
Those moments made the long days worth it.
The Challenges (Because Growth Is Rarely Linear)
What doesnāt always make it onto social media are the harder parts of business ownership:
Staffing challenges
Financial pressure
Carrying the responsibility of rent, payroll, and sustainability
Being busy while still navigating capacity and balance
This year required a lot of problem-solving, boundary-setting, and learning when to slow down instead of pushing forward.
Life Beyond the Studio
Life didnāt pause while the business grew.
Our family moved into a new home, we experienced meaningful travel that offered much-needed perspective, and we navigated personal transitions that reminded me how important rest and presence truly are.
What This Year Taught Me
If this year taught me anything, itās this:
Rest isnāt something you earn ā itās something you need in order to keep going.
I started Well Rested Massage believing deeply in listening to the body, honoring where you are, and choosing sustainability over burnout. This year challenged me to live that philosophy more intentionally.
I learned that:
Growth doesnāt always mean expansion ā sometimes it means boundaries
Asking for help is part of building something lasting
You can love your work and still need time away from it
Itās okay for a business to evolve as life does
Gratitude for This Space & This Community
This space has held so much this year ā healing, quiet moments, meaningful conversations, and care.
To every client who trusted us. To every team member who showed up with heart. To every collaborator who believes in community over competition.
Thank you.
This studio is more than four walls and treatment rooms. Itās a place where people come to reset, feel supported, and take care of themselves ā and that includes the people working within it too.
Looking Ahead
As we step into year two in this space, my intention is simple:
To continue building something sustainable, honest, and human.
To choose quality over quantity. To protect rest ā for myself, my team, and our clients. And to allow this business to evolve thoughtfully.
If youāve been part of this journey in any way, thank you for walking alongside us.
Hereās to another year of restoring, rebuilding, and recovering ā together.
